这是部讲述抢劫银行的犯罪电影，制片人带着初次执掌导筒的蔡东宪，在借鉴许多欧美的黑帮犯罪电影基础了，编写了适合韩国风格的犯罪故事，拍摄了这部完全韩国黑色犯罪喜剧《汉城大劫案》。
本片很像《落水狗》和《非常嫌疑犯》，故事开始于一次抢劫之后，因为计划失败，这伙劫匪分散开来四处逃命。常赫(朴新阳 饰)是这伙劫匪的头目，在逃跑时遇上车祸当场身亡，另一个头目奥迈(李莫思 饰)则在重伤之下被送进了医院，受到警察的严密看守。这伙劫匪的另3名成员，则逃得无影无踪，没有任何消息。
随着剧情慢慢发展，一些隐藏在这次抢劫背后的阴谋开始暴露出来，其他的几个劫匪也逐一露面。影片回到这次抢劫开始密谋的时候，常赫是个狡猾但却失足够聪明的家伙，为了一夜暴富获得一笔横财，他说服一个擅长保险柜装备老兵金先生(白云思 饰)相信他抢劫银行的完美计划，然后派他以保安的身份进入银行工作，最后顺利成为韩国银行总部的一名公务员。
在这个过程中，金先生还把他以前在部队一起服役的三个朋友，善良但有点愚蠢的奥迈和有轻微精神病的查比(朴翁尚 饰)和伪造专家惠宝宇(金尚浩 饰)。这5个人密谋这么久的抢劫计划，在当日却被迫失败，到底谁是幕后那个叛徒？
