一边以监视者的身份捕捉逃脱的神魔，一边以学生的姿态融入校园生活，但美夕并没有因此而感到快乐，虽然身旁时常围绕着朋友，脸上始终没露出过笑容。面对着各种各样逃脱的神魔，尽管有些值得同情，但他们最后的命运也只有一个······已经麻木了的美夕，只好任由命运摆布。
觉醒之日的来临，随着与千里兄长的战斗，乐章也终于到达尾声······鸟群的出现，也预示着决战的到来······另美夕意外的对手，背负者鸟群一族使命的千里，站到了美夕面前······
全26集，很值得一看的动画。动画中散播着很浓的命运气息，孤独凄凉和悲伤无助几乎占据了整个动画的感情脉络，实在是一部很棒的悲剧。故事情节尚有些地方交代得不够清楚，如果看过OVA的话，就会发觉它们的出入很大，仿佛不属于一部动画。整体格局和恐怖宠物店比较相似，关于它的原创也出现了不少（很值得深思的动画），而且也有美夕同好会，可想而知是部大作。优点还不只动画本身，音乐也是很出色的！
