  　　在南极洲一望无际的冰原上，生活着一支帝企鹅的庞大族群，这里的每只企鹅都要依靠美妙的歌声来寻找自己的伴侣，要是不会唱歌的话，恐怕就会难觅知音，不过五音不全的企鹅概率极低，简直凤毛麟角。故事的主人公玛宝(伊利亚·伍德配音)恰恰就是这样的倒霉蛋，他那难听的歌声登峰造极，不过他是个天生的踢踏舞高手。每当玛宝开心或听到别人的旋律，他的脚就会不由自主的踏出舞步，而这种天赋的流露却被同类视为怪异的行为，每次他兴高采烈的手舞足蹈，总是遭到族中长老们的横眉冷对，更有甚者认为这是族群渔猎减产的罪魁祸首。
