《大师之书》取材于俄罗斯民间广为流传的神话故事而改编.
这部电影一开始就告诉你这是一个传说：某个女巫的女儿找到了一颗有法力的石头，却遭到了诅咒困在石头里长达1千年，她在等待一个石匠……但是，她也通过石头获得了神力，可以制造石头军队为她统治世界……而故事就从这里开始。
电影的画面非常漂亮，人设、道具、环境……都充满了魔幻色彩，而特效就自然少不了，大范围的魔法，精彩绝伦，有感于此，制作公司还出了同名的游戏，有兴趣可以感受下其中魅力。
整部电影虽说以本地神话为题材，但在里面却找到很多调侃其他故事的梗，如白雪公主；或者本来文化就不分国界。而对话则充满了黑色幽默。
