◎简 介
暑假，当别的小朋友到了纽西兰滑雪，到北京大学学普通话，到剑桥学英文，顺道参观哈利波特的拍摄现场……就只有麦兜去武当山学太极。
碰上麦太正决定北上武汉学做食肆生意，誓要为俩母子的幸福作最后努力；于是这个暑假，麦太带着麦兜乘船经三峡由重庆往武汉，把麦兜小朋友，暂寄武当山的武术学校“太乙春花门”学习武功。
武当的生活又慢又闷，太极拳更慢更闷。没有电视没有冷气的夜，虫鸣夹杂着道长师傅啪啪啪的剪指甲声，麦兜再也按捺不住，掉下泪来。
但功夫还是要练。“打遍天下无敌手世界幼稚园级别武术大赛”即将举行，麦兜又如何以他又笨又钝的身手，配合他又闷又慢的太极拳，去迎战来自各门派的好打小朋友？李小龙、袁和平、猪肉荣的弟子，又准备怎样打小朋友麦兜一身呢？
穿插在故事间的，是麦子的祖宗，麦子仲肥。抢救三峡古迹的考古人员发掘出麦子(一位中国古代极不重要的思想家、发明家)的一件发明物。那是一个很慢、很慢、很慢、很慢，因此也等同没用的钟。钟的秒针每一年才移动一下，六十年为一分钟，三千六百年，正当麦兜赴战的一刻，古钟忽然发出当当巨响，一只报时鸟从钟里走出，第一次看见世界……迷蒙间麦兜猛然一醒，双掌忽隐忽现，沾粘连随，似乎已掌握了太极的奥妙。
