"While the anime TV series was still airing in Japan, Toei Animation began producing theatrical films based on the series. With their success, Shueisha began releasing film animation comics of these theatrical films. The comics contained screen shots of the film presented in a comic format, making it easy to enjoy your favorite movie while on the go. However, Shueisha decided to skip over the first seven films that had already premiered and began with the most recent premiere (Dragon Ball Z Movie 5) in 1992. They also released animation comics for all three TV specials, as well as the 10th anniversary movie. After catching up to all of the current movie premieres at the time, Shueisha returned and gradually released all of the Dragon Ball movies and the first four Dragon Ball Z movies, which they had originally skipped.
