故事概要:
BLACK LAGOON講述了岡島綠郎，本來是一位普通的日本公司職員，在被公司拋棄後在一個名為Black Lagoon商會的傭兵船隊里做見習水手的故事。故事的地點設在一個虛構的泰國海濱城市——羅阿那普拉(Roanapur)。Black Lagoon商會的僱主多為聚集在羅阿那普拉的各個黑幫勢力，任務一般是在海上運送各種各樣的「貨物」或協助別人逃跑。Black Lagoon商會主要的運輸工具是一艘配備魚雷的海上快艇。
BLACK LAGOON包含大量對於暴力與犯罪的描述，同時亦加插了些許黑色幽默。從故事的背景設定以至角色和其對白都可以看出作者對吳宇森、科恩兄弟和昆廷·塔倫蒂諾等導演，與及暴力美學的致敬。同時基於作者對槍械的濃厚興趣，在BLACK LAGOON里出現的各種武器和運輸工具大部份都在現實中存在的。而在動畫中對武器的描寫也非常細膩，因此BLACK LAGOON無論是漫畫抑或動畫均受一部份軍事/槍械愛好者愛戴。
