潛入黑社會池島組的警察土屋滿的屍體在橫濱港被發現。其妻名美在丈夫葬禮的當天，遭到池島組組員的強姦。名美自殺未成，決定殺死池島組組長為丈夫和自己報仇。在復仇過程中，她結識了池島組的幹部村木。通過村木，名美以應招妓女的身份成功地接近了池島，但暗殺計劃功敗垂成。在村木的幫助下，名美脫離了困境重新振作起來，並學會了射擊。同時，兩人之間也萌生出愛意。在一次警方的突襲中，名美和村木擊斃了逃走的池島，然而，名美突然發現村木手中的槍是丈夫的遺物，原來村木也是潛入池島組的警察，而他才是殺死滿的真凶……幕後製作這是一部主張以血還血主義的黑道片，情節跌宕起伏，多有峰迴路轉出人意料之處。影片以一位女性作為主角，描述了她從被害者變為復仇者、在付出種種代價後終於報仇成功的過程，同時，她內心的情感變化也被細膩地展現出來，讓人感受到女性耀眼的美麗與堅強。本片雖然在內容上屬於驚險動作片範疇，但畫面卻帶著令人讚嘆的詩意美感，黑暗中流光溢彩的霓虹、幽幽搖擺的窗簾、漫天飛舞的雪花……這些地方都體現出石井導演獨特的風格魅力。本片是1994年日本專業電影大獎評出的年度十佳影片之一。
