葉問因兒子在的學校和同學張鋒爭執，而認識了張鋒的父親張天志（張晉 飾），兩人因同樣精通詠春拳而結為好友。此時，受雇於洋人費蘭奇（泰森 飾）的惡棍笙哥向他兒子的學校強收保護費，不昔圍牆封路，阻礙孩子受教育，葉問為了保護鄰里出手相助，竟演變成他與張天志反目成仇，他要如何對抗壓榨百姓的費蘭奇，更要如何喚醒好友的良知？他知道他仍需出手一戰。
