【劇情簡介】：
1979年，崑崙山發生神秘生物骸骨，由胡八一（趙又廷飾）率領的探險隊深入崑崙山腹地，尋找有關古生物遺蹟的更多秘密，卻不料在這個過程中遭到不同神秘生物的輪番攻擊，並意外墜入九層妖塔，除胡八一外，一行人生死成謎。
胡八一退伍後回到北京，重逢了發小王凱旋（馮粒飾），並在神秘人（李晨飾）與科考隊（鳳小岳、唐嫣、李光潔飾）兩股力量的夾縫中重新踏上了探尋未知文明的征程，途中與Shirley楊（姚晨飾）邂逅，熟識的面孔喚醒了他身處探險隊那段日子的記憶。 此行凶險，在還沒來得及搞清楚Shirley的真實身份之際，胡八一、Shirley、王胖子率領一行人便在王子墓、石油小鎮等地遭到不明生物的轟炸，這裡所發生的一切再度指向九層妖塔，而這次等待他們的，將是一個塵封已千年的未解之謎……
